Major groups and gender issues at the 5th World Water Forum

Dear all,

I would like to share some news with you.

Major groups and gender issues were taken as the special theme of the
latest issue of the 5th World Water Forum Newsletter Water Bridges.

Among others you can read:
• The foreword by Hon. Maria Mutagamba, Minister of Water and
Environment of Uganda, highlighting the role of women and the
importance of gender mainstreaming in the water sector.
• The perspectives of four experts from different regions of the
world on water and gender issues
• The participation of Major Groups as defined by Agenda 21 in the
Forum's preparatory processes through various mechanisms.
• Announcements and updates and much more!

Available online at: http://newsletter.worldwaterforum5.org/

I would also like to announce a discussion opened up on the Forum’s
Virtual Meeting Space (VMS) under the Major Groups Women discussion
section:

How can we use the Forum to move forward?
How can we finally bring the message across that empowering women and
mainstreaming gender and equity in all processes will lead to more
sustainable solutions?
Please join in and send your contributions and comments: http://portal.worldwaterforum5.org
, under Major Groups -> Women -> Discussions

Further I like to bring to your attention the Participant Aid
Programme (PAID)
The 5th World Water Forum Secretariat has set up a particular
Financial Aid Programme to facilitate the active participation of
least developed and developing countries and participants from least-
favoured groups. The grants will cover registration fees, full board
accommodation and travel expenses within Istanbul (e.g. from the
hotels to the Forum venue) of selected participants. For more
information and application form, please visit: http://www.worldwaterforum5.org/
.

Cheers and kind regards,
Janine Tabasaran
