GenderStats -- A Resource for Data on Gender and Women


		

Genderstatsgives easy access to up-to-date gender and development  
statistical information for development partners and Bank staff and  
hasmany features:

1. a user friendly interface;
2. allows users to create their own tables (by country and indicator);
3. an easy-to-use mapping feature to facilitate comparisons among  
countries in each region;
4. a ready-to-use format to save data as Excel files;
5. a module on Gender monitoring on MDGs and other World Bank’s  
processes; and,
6. links to World Bank’s regional Gender resources.
The new GenderStats website is part of theWorld Bank’s efforts to  
promote gender equality. The new site makes it easier to find answers  
to questions such as ‘What percentage of females occupy ministerial  
positions in government?’or ‘How far away is a country from reaching  
MDG gender goals?

Genderstats is a one stop source for country level database on Gender  
and Development. The electronic database provides the most recent  
gender-disaggregated statistics and other relevant data on population,  
health, education, employment, political participation, and programs  
and policies for many countries.

This new system was developed and refurbished jointly by PREM Gender  
and the Data Group of Development Economics Vice-Presidency. For more
