*CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS*

*/Gender and E-Business Management: Contrasts and Comparisons/*

A book edited by Associate Professor Robert MacGregor, University of
Wollongong, Australia and Associate Professor Lejla Vrazalic, University
of Wollongong, Dubai Campus

*Introduction*

* *

The last decade has seen two trends taking place in the work force ? a
greater use of Internet-based technologies in the professional and
business world; and a slow shift away from a traditional male-dominated
economy, centered around manufacturing towards a service and retail
economy in which women are playing a greater role. However, despite a
more equitable makeup of the workforce, studies show that there are
differences (male ? female) in terms of decisions concerning the
adoption and use of Internet-based technologies, and specifically
e-business. While a number of these studies have found their way into
journals and conferences, there has been no attempt to combine these
into a single publication. This results in research that is often
fragmented and sometimes that studies from different disciplines are
lacking previous findings or are inadvertently duplicated. The proposed
book would provide both theoretical and empirical studies into gender
and gender differences concerning the adoption, management, and use of
e-business from an international perspective.

* *

*Objectives of the Book*

* *

This book will aim to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the
latest empirical research findings concerning the role of gender in the
adoption, management, and use of e-business. With females increasingly
working in or managing businesses, and changes brought about by cheaper
and more available technology, the workplace as a whole appears far more
equitable. However recent studies show that the female professional, as
well as the female business owners and managers, are often
disadvantaged. These studies also show that professional as well as the
business sector males, view the adoption and use of Internet-based
technologies very differently than females. The book will be written for
professionals who want to improve their understanding of the influence
of gender in the decision-making processes for e-business adoption,
e-business management, and the use of e-business.

*Target Audience*

* *

The target audience of this book will be composed of professionals and
researchers working in the field of e-business. This includes Web
designers; e-business systems designers; consultants to large, small,
and professional businesses, government agencies developing policies and
procedures for professional and small businesses; those involved with
risk management; and those involved with customers. The book would also
be an invaluable resource for case studies for tertiary courses
concerned with gender and its role in business and technology
management.

* *
